A Child Has Been Here

A child has been here, see the dirt on the floor?

A child has been here, see the handprints on the door?

A child has been here, see the handle-less jug?

A child has been here, see the stain on the rug?

A child has been here, for the flowers are smashed.

A child has been here, see the corners are bashed?

A child has been here, see the rope knotted all tight?

A child has been here, see the cookie with just one bite?

A child has been here, see the bike rusted in the yard?

A child has been here, look for the fifty second card.

A child has been here, see the pictures glued on the wall?

A child has been here, see up on the roof, a ball!

A child has been here, see the knights on the table?

A child has been here, on the floor is a block stable.

A child has been here, see the LEGO car?

A child has been here, see the green crayon star?

Children are dirty, they make so much mess.

Without them the load is so much less!

They are responsibilities we have to bear.

Who can deny that they need great care?

They are loud and messy, yes this is true.

But then, what could be more worth the trouble than a child’s “I love you”?
